Florida · Storm, Wind & Hurricane Claims

After the wind stops, the claim begins.

Wind can affect roofing, openings, exterior systems, and interior finishes in one event. M&T helps policyholders document the complete loss and present the claim without overstating what the evidence shows.

Understand the loss

The facts and the damage path matter.

Connect exterior damage, interior effects, and the event timeline in one fact-based storm claim.

The source, timing, affected areas, and emergency-protection records help explain the facts without making coverage assumptions.

Create a storm-loss timeline

Do not climb onto a wet or damaged roof or enter an unstable area. Use qualified professionals for emergency access and temporary protection.

  • Photograph all sides of the building and the surrounding debris before cleanup when safe.
  • Record when wind or rain began, when damage was discovered, and any immediate actions taken.
  • Keep pre-loss inspections, listing photographs, maintenance records, and earlier roof documents.
  • Save invoices and photographs for tarps, board-up, water extraction, and other temporary work.
  • Separate damaged-property records from routine upgrades or unrelated maintenance.
  • Preserve carrier estimates, engineering reports, inspection photographs, and written decisions.

Storm-claim questions

Should I get on the roof to take pictures?

No. A damaged or wet roof can be dangerous. Photograph safely from the ground and use qualified professionals for roof access.

Does a hurricane deductible always apply after a bad storm?

No. Applicability depends on the policy language and the event. Review the declarations and endorsements rather than relying on an assumption.

What if the interior did not leak immediately?

Document when symptoms appeared and preserve all observations. Delayed discovery does not answer the coverage question by itself; the facts and policy must be evaluated.

Can M&T promise a larger settlement?

No. We prepare and present supported claims for policyholders. No public adjuster can guarantee coverage, timing, or a particular payment.
